Special Class Railway Apprentices (SCRA) Exam is a kind of recruitment exam, which is conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). It is for the appointment of probationary railway officials in the mechanical department of Indian Railways. Selected candidates can be offered placement by the central government, anywhere in India. UPSC Special Class Railway Apprentices Exam Selection Procedure
SCRA entrance test is a two-stage exam, in which a written test and a personality test are included. Candidates, who qualify the written test successfully, get called for personality test, which is conducted by the UPSC. The written test carries marks of 600 marks, while the interview carries 200 marks. The written test consists of three objective papers including General Ability test, Physical Sciences and Mathematics. The interviews are held by the UPSC soon after results of the written test is declared. The personality test or interview carries 200 marks and the marks obtained in the interview are added to the marks obtained by the candidates in the written test, to prepare the final merit list. SCRA interview is conducted by the Commission with an aim of judging the suitability of candidates as probationary officers in Indian Railway’s mechanical department.
