Indian Forest Service (IFS) Exam is a competitive recruitment entrance exam which is being conducted by Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). It is being conducted for recruiting the most deserving candidates as forest officials in Indian Forest Service. The India Forest Service was created for the protection, conservation and regeneration of forest resources. Candidates get selected through this entrance test and can get placed under the various state cadres. The test is conducted once in a year and usually scheduled in the month of July every year. This recruitment exam is conducted at various exam centres at national level.
 

Selected candidates are called for personal interview conducted by the commission, for personality test of the candidates. Eligible candidates are permitted to attempt this recruitment exam at least four times. In case of SC/ST candidates, the aforementioned restriction is not applicable. Other Backward Castes (OBC) candidates can attempt the exam at least seven times. All female candidates, SC/ST, disabled candidates are exempted from paying any kind of exam fee for the entrance test. There is no fee exemption for the OBC candidates and they have to pay the prescribed fee. Candidates get employed at the Indian Forest Services as forest officials, only after qualifying the last round of the interview.
