NLSIU Bangalore

NLSIU (National Law School of India University) Bangalore is an autonomous institution with a Deemed University status from the University Grants Commission (UGC) and has been approved by the Bar Council of India (BCI). The foundation of National Law School of India University (NLSIU) Bangalore was laid by Dr. N.R. Madhava Menon, in 1987. Initially, the classes of NLSIU were held in the premises of the Central College, Bangalore University. In the year 1992, the institute shifted to its own premises at the present address.

The campus of the law school is spread over an extensive land area of 18 acres, in Nagarbhavi, approximately 10 kms from the Bangalore City railway station. National Law School of India University Bangalore is completely residential, which offers excellent accommodation facility to its students as well as staff. Apart from the full-time program, the institute also provides distance programme.

Eligibility:

Post Graduate Diploma:
Graduation in relevant stream is mandatory to be eligible for this programme.

Post Graduate:
Candidate must have a bachelor degree in law from a recognized University, with a minimum of 55% marks in aggregate.

Doctorate:
M Phil - Candidate must have a LLM degree or equivalent examination from a recognized University, with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate.

PhD - Candidate must have LLM degree with from a recognized University, with a minimum of 55% marks in aggregate.
Or
Candidate must be M Phil in Law from a recognized University.

LLD - Candidate must have PhD in law.

Integrated:
Candidate must pass their Higher Secondary or 10+2 level of examination from a recognized Board.
Admission Procedure:

Post Graduate:
Admission is done on the basis of the candidate’s performance in Common Law Admission Test (CLAT).

Entrance Test: CLAT Exam

Post Graduate Diploma:
Candidates are selected on the basis of their marks in the qualifying examination.

Doctorate:
M Phil - Admission is done on the basis of candidate’s performance in the interview and presentation of research proposal.

PhD - Admission is done on the basis of the candidate’s performance in the interview conducted by the institute and evaluation of the thesis submitted by the candidate.

LLD- Admission is done on the basis of the candidate’s performance in the interview conducted by the institute.

Integrated:
Admission is done on the basis of the candidate’s performance in Common Law Admission Test (CLAT).
