Lakshmi Bai College in New Delhi, a constituent part of Delhi University, offers several courses at different levels.


Lakshmibai College

Located in Ashok Vihar (New Delhi), Lakshmi Bai College is among the prominent women’s colleges of Delhi University. Established in 1965, the college was named in the remembrance of Rani Lakshmi Bai of Jhansi, the great freedom fighter. Over the years, the college has committed itself in fulfilling the cause of women’s empowerment. Various undergraduate as well as post graduate courses are offered in humanities and commerce stream, at the college. Apart from conventional courses, Foreign Language course and computer-training programme for visually impaired students is also offered by Lakshmi Bai College. Focus is also laid on the participation of the candidates in sports and extra curricular activities. On weekends, the DU College also acts as a teaching centre for Non Collegiate Women Education Board (NCWEB). In the past 45 years, numerous students have been enriched with quality education by the efforts made by Lakshmi Bai College.

Eligibility:

Undergraduate:
Bachelor of Arts (BA) Honours
Candidates are required to pass 10+2 or equivalent examination from a recognized Board with minimum 45% aggregate marks. In addition to the aforementioned eligibility, candidates are required to fulfill the eligibility criteria required for particular course as well. Details of which has been mentioned below-
For B. A (H) Economics, minimum 60% marks are required in Mathematics and English. For B. A (H) English, minimum percentile marks required in aggregate is 68% for all streams. Also, 72% marks in English Core and 62% marks in English Elective. For B. A (H) Mathematics and B. A (H) Political Science, minimum 50% aggregate mark is required in English and For B. A (H) Sanskrit, study of Sanskrit as a subject at VIII th standard is compulsory.

Bachelor of Arts (BA) (Pass)
Candidates with minimum 40% aggregate marks in 10+2 from CBSE Board or any other examination considered equivalent thereto are eligible.

Bachelor of Commerce (B. Com) Honours
Those, who have passed 10+2 or equivalent examination from a recognized Board with minimum 45% aggregate marks, are eligible, provided they have scored minimum 50% marks in Mathematics/ computer science and English.

Bachelor of Commerce (B. Com)
Candidates with pass in 10+2 or equivalent examination from a recognized Board with not less than 40% aggregate marks are eligible, provided they have scored minimum 50% marks in Mathematics/ computer science and English.

Post Graduate:
Graduates in related discipline from a recognized University are eligible.
Admission Procedure:

Undergraduate:
B.A (Hons)/(Pass) & B. Com (Hons)/(Pass)
Admissions are done on the basis of merit in the qualifying examination. However, candidates, who have not studied Hindi up to VIII class, are required to appear for the compulsory Hindi Test conducted by University.

Post Graduate:
Admissions are done as per the rules of their respective departments of PG course.
