Bharathidasan University conducts an entrance examination for Bachelor of Education Program (B.Ed). The program is offered through distance learning mode by the Department of Education, Centre for Distance Education, Bharathidasan University. Bharathidasan University is among the prominent affiliating universities of Tamil Nadu. The university came into existence in 1982, under the Act of Government of Tamil Nadu. It is located in the sprawling area of 1000 acres of land. It is recognized by University Grant Commission (UGC) and is a member of Association of Indian Universities (AIU) and Association of Commonwealth Universities. Bachelor of Education program is designed to enhance the knowledge of working teachers.

The working teachers having minimum of two years of experience in a recognized school are eligible for the entrance exam. In addition, the applicant should have completed graduation from a recognized university in any of the following disciplines: Tamil (B.A./B.Litt.)/ English/Mathematics / Physics / Applied Physics / Chemistry / Applied Chemistry / Biochemistry / Zoology / Botany / Microbiology /Biotechnology / Environmental Science / History / Geography/ Applied Geography / Computer Science / Computer Applications / Information Technology. The applicants, who want to seek admission in Economics, Commerce and Home Science stream, should have studied the same subjects in graduation and in post graduation.
Bharathidasan University B.Ed Entrance Exam is of two hours of duration consisting 100 questions of 100 marks. The question paper of the entrance exam is divided into two parts - Part (a) that consists of General English Comprehension, Logical and Analytical Reasoning, Educational & General Awareness, Teaching-Learning Practices and Part (b) that has questions related to the subject chosen by the candidate from the following options - Tamil, English, Science, Mathematics and Social Studies.
The syllabus of Part (b) of the entrance exam consists of subjects studied in 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th standards of the Tamil Nadu Government Secondary and Higher Secondary School Board.
