Shahul Hameed Memorial Engineering College, popularly called SHM Engineering College, is a centre of excellence for technical education in the state of Kerala. The college is spread over an area of 25 acres of land, located at a picturesque spot in the hilly town of Kadakkal, Kollam district. An integral part of Kadakkal Educational Trust, the college has been functioning since 2002.
SHM Engineering College Kollam is affiliated to University of Kerala. In order to conduct technical courses in various branches of engineering, the college got the approval of All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi. Currently, Shahul Hameed Memorial Engineering College is offering undergraduate level courses in five branches of engineering.

Applicants must have passed the Higher Secondary/ +2/XII standards examination conducted by the boards/departments recognized by Universities in Kerala or equivalent there to with Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry as optional subjects. They must have obtained not less than 50% marks in Mathematics, and 50% in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry collectively or Diploma examination in Engineering, or any equivalent examination. Backward and other communities are given concessions. Diploma holders must have passed the examination with minimum 60% marks.
Undergraduate:
50% of the seats in the college are filled up by the management while remaining 50% are filled up from the list of candidates supplied by the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations, Government of Kerala. For admission via management quota, performance in the qualifying examination is also taken in view. Diploma holders are admitted in the Second Year of the classes.
