National Institute of Technology (NIT) Trichy, in Tamil Nadu, imparts engineering courses at the UG as well as PG level.


NIT Trichy

National Institutes of Technology (NIT) Trichy is a Government institution fully funded by the Government of India. The institute was formerly known as Regional Engineering College, Tiruchirappalli, which was established in 1964 as a co-operative venture between the Government of India and the Government of Tamil Nadu. In 2003, NIT Trichy was granted Deemed University status with the approval of the UGC/AICTE and rechristened as National Institute of Technology. The institute imparts various engineering courses at the undergraduate, postgraduate and doctorate level. NIT Trichy has a number of modern amenities for the all round development of its students.

Eligibility:

Undergraduate:
The candidate must have passed the qualifying Examination of 10+2 level (class XII or Intermediate Examination or its equivalent) in science stream with Physics and Mathematics as core subjects.

Post Graduate:
M.Tech
Minimum academic qualification required is a pass in BE/BTech or equivalent degree in the relevant discipline with not less than 60% marks or 6.5 CGPA in the qualifying examination is needed for admission in ME/MTech course.

MCA
Applicant should have scored at least 60% marks (6.5/10 CGPA) in Bachelors degree of 3 years duration from a recognized University with Mathematics / Statistics / Business Mathematics as one of the subjects, both in graduation and at 10+2 level to secure admission. SC/ST candidates need to score 55%(6.0/10 CGPA).

MBA
One must have done graduation in any discipline with minimum 50% marks from a recognized Indian University.

Doctorate:
Students should have passed ME / MTech in relevant discipline with at least 60 percent marks in aggregate.
Admission Procedure:

Undergraduate:
Admission for UG courses is done through All India Engineering Entrance Exam AIEEE (A National level entrance for NITs and Other Engineering Colleges in India) conducted by CBSE. 50% of the total seats are reserved for domicile students from Tamil Nadu, while the rest are open to students from all over India. Reservation policy is followed as per the norms, 27% seats are reserved for OBCs, 15% for SCs and 7.5% for STs.

Entrance Test: AIEEE Exam

Post Graduate:
M.Tech
Candidates with valid GATE scores are given preference for admission into the M Tech course. Non GATE candidates can apply under the sponsored quota having at least two years of working experience in the respective field. However the sponsored candidates are not granted any financial support from the Institute.


MBA
Applicants need to appear in CAT entrance exam. Candidates thus shortlisted on the basis of their performance in CAT are invited for Group Discussion / Personal Interview.

MCA
Applicants are selected through NIMCET (National Institute of Technology Common MCA Entrance Test), a common entrance test held by NIITs for admission to MCA.
