The college was previously known as Sultan UI-Uloom College of Business Administration; it was named after the trust Sultan-ul-Uloom Education Society under whose guidance, the college has been operating. Amjad Ali Khan College of Business Administration is affiliated to Osmania University and is approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), to conduct course in the field of business administration, at the postgraduate level.
