St. Joseph’s College

St. Joseph’s College, Bangalore, is one of the oldest educational institutions, giving knowledge and churning out great students year after year since the past 126 years now, in Karnataka (India). Affiliated to Bangalore University, it is one of the oldest colleges of the state. Established by French Fathers of the Foreign Mission, in the year 1882, the college was handed over to a catholic religious order in the year 1937 and finally came into being to the present day form, in the year 1972. The main aim of the college is to emphasize on both academic excellence and character formation of a student.
 
St. Joseph’s College Bangalore stands proudly today and commands a place of priority in the field of higher education in India. St. Joseph's College, coupled with its sister institutions, namely St. Joseph’s College of Commerce, St. Joseph’s Evening College, St. Joseph's Boy's High School and St. Joseph’s Indian High School, exemplifies years of tradition. In the present time, St. Joseph's College Bangalore has more than 5000 students in its rolls, assisted by over 150 staff members.
 

St. Joseph’s College, Bangalore, is accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) for maintaining high standards of education all these years. The college was declared as an educational institution of potential excellence by the University Grants Commission or the UGC, New Delhi, in the year 2004. Apart from St. Joseph's College, Bangalore, only 47 other colleges in the whole country have this privilege. It was also declared as an autonomous college by the Karnataka Government in the year 2005, after it examined the academic level of the college thoroughly.

The student must have a PUC certificate issued by the Board of Pre-University Education, Government of Karnataka or equivalent from other authorized Boards such as CBSE/ICSE, etc.
