Lady Irwin College (New Delhi) of Delhi University offers several courses at different levels.


Lady Irwin College

Located at Sikandra Road (New Delhi), Lady Irwin College is spread over an area of 16.5 acres of Land. The college, dedicated to impart education in the field of Home Science, came into being in 1932 and gained the affiliation of University of Delhi in 1950. The women’s college is serving in the field of education from over 75 years. Education in the field of Home Science is offered at undergraduate as well as at post graduate level by the college. The provision of conducting Ph. D in the same is also there. From a modest beginning with 11 students, Lady Irwin College has slowly and gradually made remarkable progress. At present, over 900 students enroll each year in the college. The alumni of one of the distinguishing Colleges - Lady Irwin College - are absorbed in reputed organizations.

Eligibility:

Undergraduate:
Bachelor of Science (B. Sc) (Hons)
Candidate with at least 50% aggregate marks in any three of the following subjects- Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology, Mathematics, Home Science, Economics, Computer Science, and Psychology at 10+2 are eligible. The aggregate must include any one subject among- Physics, Chemistry, and Biology/Biotechnology.

Bachelor of Science (B. Sc) (Pass)
Candidates, who have passed 10+2 or equivalent examination from CBSE or any other examination considered equivalent thereto in science stream, are eligible.

Bachelor of Education (B. Ed.)
Graduates of a recognized University are eligible. For B. Ed in Home Science, graduates of same or related field are preferred and for B. Ed in Mental Retardation, candidates with work experience in special school environment in any disability area after their graduation will be preferred.

Post Graduate Diploma:
Candidates with B.Sc. Home Science (Pass/ Hons.) or B.Sc. Food Technology (Hons.) degree with minimum 50% aggregate marks and with not less than 50% aggregate marks in any three of the following subjects: Food Science, Normal Nutrition, Community Nutrition, Clinical Nutrition and Biochemistry are eligible.

Post Graduate:
Candidates with minimum 55% aggregate marks in B. Sc Home Science or related discipline of a recognized University are eligible. For M. Sc Food & Nutrition, in addition to aforementioned eligibility criteria, 55% aggregate marks in Nutritional Biochemistry and any two of the following subjects is necessary. For candidates with B. Sc. (Hons.), Home Science with specialization in Food & Nutrition, optional two subjects can be from Foundation of Food & Nutrition, Nutrition for the family, Community Nutrition, Food Science and Processing and Diet Therapy. For B.Sc. (Pass) Home Science, optional subjects will be from- Food Science, Normal Nutrition and Community Nutrition and Dietetics and for students with B.Sc. (Hons.) Home Science optional two subjects should be from Food Science, Nutrition and Microbiology.

Admissions are based on the merit in the qualifying examination.

Bachelor of Education (B. Ed.) (Home Science)
Admissions are based on the candidate’s performance in the common entrance examination (CEE) conducted by Delhi University (DU B.Ed entrance test).

Bachelor of Education (B. Ed.) (Mental Retardation)
Admissions are done on the basis of merit in the qualifying examination.

Post Graduate:
Admissions are based on the candidate’s scores in DU M Sc Entrance examination conducted by Delhi University.
