Kasturba Medical College

Kasturba Medical College (KMC), Manipal, is the first medical college in the private sector in India. Also known by the name, KMC manipal, the college came into existence in June 30, 1953. Initially, it started with only the pre-clinical section at Manipal and the students had to go to Mangalore for their clinical training. Later on with the clinical programme having commenced at Manipal in 1969, it became a full-fledged independent college.

Kasturba Medical College Manipal received recognition from Medical Council of India (MCI) in 1958. In 1969 with the commencement of clinical program KMC became a full-fledged independent college. KMC Manipal consistently ranks among the top 10 medical colleges in the country. The college is affiliated to Manipal University in Karnataka.

Eligibility:

Undergraduate:
Candidate must pass Higher Secondary (10+2 level) or equivalent examination from a recognized Board with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English and a minimum of 55% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology subjects.

Post Graduate Diploma:
Minimum qualification required is that a candidate must have MBBS Degree recognized by the Medical Council of India.

Post Graduate:
M D / M S - Candidate must have MBBS or equivalent degree recognized by Medical Council of India. Those applying under MAHE category must have studied and passed MBBS degree from Manipal University or sister institutions.

M Sc Clinical Embryology - Candidate must have B Sc degree with a minimum of 60% marks either with Reproduction, Zoology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Bioscience or Physiology as one of the subjects.

M Sc (Medical) - Candidate must have passed B Sc with atleast one subject of Biological Sciences or BAMS or MBBS or BHMS or BPT or B Pharm or equivalent degree from a recognized university with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate. B Sc graduates with Physics and Chemistry optionals could be considered for admission to M Sc in Biochemistry.

M Sc (Yoga Therapy) - Candidate must have a bachelors degree in any discipline from a recognized university with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate.

D M - Candidate must be M D in General Medicine or Paediatrics from a college recognized by the Medical Council of India.

M Ch - Candidate must be MS in General Surgery from a college recognized by the Medical Council of India.

M Phil Clinical Psychology - Candidates must pass full time M A (Psychology) or M Sc (Psychology) from a recognized University with a minimum of 55% marks in aggregate of the Masters Degree course as a whole.

M Phil Psychiatric Social Work - Candidate must have passed full time MSW (Social Work) from a recognized University with a minimum of 55% marks in aggregate of the Masters Degree course as a whole.

PG Certificate Courses – Candidate must be MBBS, BDS, B Pharm, M Pharm, M Sc Life Sciences, B Sc Nursing, BAMS or Allied health courses with minimum of 50% marks in aggregate are eligible.

PG Certificate Courses in Panchakarma – Candidate must be an Indian Nationals with a pass in bachelor’s degree in Ayurveda from a recognized University and completed the compulsory rotatory internship.
Admission Procedure:

Undergraduate:
Admission is done on the basis of candidate’s performance in EPSI National Admission Test (ENAT).

Post Graduate:
M D / M S - Admissions are made on the basis of rank obtained in an all India EPSI National Admission Test (ENAT).

D M / M Ch / M Phil (Clinical Psychology ) - Admissions are made on the basis of past academic and professional record and a selection test consisting of departmental written test, clinical examination, viva-voce and interview.

M Phil Psychiatric Social Work - Admissions are made on the basis of selection test consisting of departmental written test and a personal interview.

PG Certificate Courses - Admissions are done on the basis of marks obtained at the qualifying examination and interview.

Post Graduate Diploma:
Admission is done on the basis of marks obtained in an all India EPSI National Admission Test (ENAT).
