The college started its first academic session in 2009-2010 with the objective of producing proficient lawyers who can contribute in promoting justice and could render their services in spreading legal awareness. Affiliated to Himachal Pradesh University, Shimla, the institution offers legal education at under graduate level through three-year program (LLB). Indian Institute of Legal Studies has got the approval of Bar Council of India (BCI), New Delhi. It is one of the upcoming colleges of its field in the state.
