University of Hyderabad

The University of Hyderabad, which came into being over three decades ago, has distinguished itself as one of the best centres for teaching, research and innovations. The university is a member of the Association of Indian Universities (AIU), the Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU) and International Council for Distance Education. National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) has awarded Hyderabad University with A Grade with 5 star rating.
 
Educational Streams
University of Hyderabad has been segregated into schools, each of which offers multiple post-graduate/research courses in their respective domains. Some of these schools are single discipline while others have departments and study centres attached to them. Several courses offered by the university are inter-disciplinary. 

Apart from conventional courses like Arts and Science, the university conducts professional courses too. Engineering courses on several technical disciplines are also offered by the university. Sarojini Naidu School of Performing Arts in the University offers courses in dance, theatre arts, painting and communication. 

Several specialized centres have been also set for studies. These include Centres for Earth and Space Sciences, Cognitive Sciences, Research in High Energy Materials, Modelling Simulation and Design, Health Psychology, and Integrated Studies. Centre for Distance Education conducts programs through distance mode.
 
Facilities
There are separate hostels for men and women students to stay in. A shopping complex available inside the campus caters to the needs of the students. The health care center inside the campus takes care of the medical needs of students. The University auditorium is used for seminars and showing documentary films. It is one of the best auditoriums in Hyderabad having centralized AC. The university also facilitates campus placements.
 
History
Hyderabad University was established as a Central University by an Act of the Parliament of India. The University is financed by the University Grants Commission (UGC).
