Sri Venkateswara University

Sri Venkateswara Univer is located in the vicinity of the world famous temple town of Tirupati. The University was established to fulfill the purpose of catering to the educational needs and aspirations of the people of Rayalaseema area, envisioned by Late Sri Tanguturi Prakasam Pantulu, the then Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh and Late Sri Neelam Sanjeeva Reddy.
 
Educational Streams
Sri Venkateswara University has several constituent and affiliated colleges offering courses in different streams. Besides these colleges, a Postgraduate Centre is also associated with the university. The Computer Centre takes care of the computational requirements for the entire University. For getting admission in PG Courses, candidates need to qualify in the entrance test conducted every year by Directorate of Admissions, SV University. For M Phil / PhD (Full time/ Part time) admissions are conducted via the Research Entrance Test conducted by SV University. Selection for PhD Programme is based on their scores in the qualifying examination and the entrance test.
 
Facilities
Sri Venkateswara University has separate hostels for male and female students. The campus is equipped with modem laboratory facilities and a  library resource system to facilitate research activities. The library provides services such as book lending, reference, reprography and inter-library loans. One can also look for e-journals in the library. The students get free medical help at the university health centre. 

Directorate of Student Welfare and Cultural Affairs promotes cultural integration in the campus. Branches of State Bank and Andhra Bank are located in the university campus. A regular post-office and a telecom center providing telephone, fax, e-mail and telegraphic services are also in the campus. SVU Consumers’ Co-operative Stores supplying essential commodities, cosmetics, textiles etc and cafes are located at convenient locations.
 
History
Established in 1954, Sri Venkateswara University, Tirupati has witnessed tremendous growth over the past fifty-two years, as a premier institute of higher learning. The university has coined the motto ‘Wisdom lies in proper perspective’ for it.
