Sri Chandrasekharendra Saraswathi Viswa Mahavidyalaya was established in 1956 under Section 3 of UGC Act. It is a deemed university and located in Kanchipuram city of Tamil Nadu. Situated in a sprawling complex at Enathur, at the distance of about 4 Kilometres from Kanchipuram, the university functions under the aegis of Sri Kanchi Kamakoti Peetam Charitable Trust. The University has established another campus in Poonamalle, Chennai which houses an Ayurveda College, research centre and hospital. The University lays emphasis on integrating traditional knowledge with modern scientific practices with a global outlook.
Educational Streams
Sri Chandrasekharendra Saraswathi Viswa Mahavidyalaya provides educational programmes combining teaching of Sanskrit with modern scientific education. This pattern of study is developed so that the students are able to develop a scientific temper and rationale, and also benefit from the stored up knowledge of past generations of Indian civilization.
Presently, the university offers various programmes in Sanskrit and Sastras. To ensure modern education for its students, it offers several UG and PG courses in various branches of Engineering, Computer Application and Management Studies. The students can also go for research work in all disciplines.

Poonamalle campus of the university hosts an Ayurveda college and hospital. The university offers 5½ years BAMS degree (Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine & Surgery). This institution has been approved by the Central Council of Indian Medicine, New Delhi, the authority for Ayurvedic education in India. A herb garden has been developed with more than 450 species for aiding Ayurvedic Pharmacy that prepares a range of Ayurvedic medicines.
Facilities
SCSVMV campus hosts separate hostels for boys and girls. Facilities in the hostels include comfortable and well-ventilated rooms, peaceful and pollution-free surroundings, dining and mess facilities, telephone & internet access, common room with facilities of indoor and outdoor games, and round-the-clock security. The university library has a vast collection of books, current periodicals, specialized national and international journals as well as digital material. A branch of Indian Bank is also located in university campus. Bus transportation is also available to local students.
History
Sri Chandrasekharendra Saraswathi Viswa Mahavidyalaya at Kanchi was started with the blessings of Pujyasri Jayendra Saraswathi Swamiji and Pujyasri Sankara Vijayendra Saraswathi Swamiji. The Mahavidyalaya attained the status of a Deemed University in the year 1993.
