Rajasthan Sanskrit University

Established in 2001, Jagadguru Ramanadacharya Rajasthan Sanskrit University (JRRSU) is a public university located at Jaipur, the capital of Rajasthan. Recognized by the University Grant Commission (UGC), it is located at Madau (Bhankrota), Jaipur in Rajasthan. It affiliates more than 50 colleges/institutions of Acharya, Shashtri and Shikshashatri level. Objective of the university is to develop and preserve the Sanskrit language and also to promote Sanskrit learning in the state. The university, which is the member of Indian Association of Universities, publishes an annual Sanskrit magazine named Akshara.

 

The university provides degrees like Shastri (Graduate), Acharya (Postgraduate), Shiksha Shastri (BEd), Shikshacharya (MEd), Vidyavaridhi (PhD), and Vidyavachaspati (DLit). A separate faculty has been set up for the study of Vedanta. The university lays stress on subjects like literature, culture and philosophy. Along with Sankrit literature, modern subjects including English Literature, Hindi Literature, History, Political Science, Administration, Sociology, Economics, Home Science and Environment in the university. The students are also trained in teaching. Basic level computer education is also imparted.

 

The pupils of Rajasthan Sanskrit University can avail of the library having large collection of books on Sanskrit literature, cultures and several modern subjects. A hostel, equipped with all necessary amenities, has also been built in the university campus. A research centre has also been set up.

 

Jagadguru Ramanandachary Rajasthan Sanskrit University, also calledRajasthan Sanskrit University or the Sanskrit Vishwavidalaya, was set up in 2001 at Jaipur for the expansion and protection of the Sanskrit language. Sanskrit is considered as the evolutionary language for several languages spoken in these days. On 27 June, 2005, it was christened Jagadguru Ramanandachary Rajasthan Sanskrit University, Jaipur.
