Pandit Deendayal Petroleum University (PDPU) is a research-oriented university established to meet the demand for trained and specialized human resource for Oil & Gas Industry worldwide. The University was set up by the Gujarat State Legislative Assembly and promoted by the Gujarat State Petroleum Corporation. Pandit Deendayal Petroleum University is a perfect example of a unique public-private educational and research initiative. The university has been able to create world class environment to promote energy education and research with special focus on the oil and gas sector.
Educational Streams
PDPU Gandhinagar has successfully achieved its objective through a number of specialized and well-planned undergraduate and post-graduate energy education programs and intensive research initiatives. It offers 4 Year B Tech programs in Petroleum Engineering with desirable flexibility, under the School of Petroleum Technology.
Apart from the undergraduate degree it offer postgraduate studies in the business management (MBA) with focus on energy sector and emphasis on Oil and Gas sector. The entire curriculum of the program has been designed accordingly to meet the requirement of the particular sector.
There is a fully residential M Tech program that offers 2 year duration post-graduate degree in Petroleum Engineering. Besides theses regular courses, PDPU also conducts an integrated Dual Degree of 5 Year duration that brings together B Tech and M Tech Programme in Petroleum Engineering. Only meritorious students amongst the batch are allowed to switch to the 5 year Dual Degree Programme in Petroleum Engineering after completing fifth semester of the B Tech degree programme.

Facilities
University campus, located at Gandhinagar, is spread across a vast area and offers necessary infrastructure relevant for carrying out research and development activities. It is equipped with modern amenities such as video-conferencing, internet labs, projection rooms, research labs, library & reading room, sports and recreational facilities.
Pandit Deendayal Petroleum University provides residential facilities to its students; hostels established by the University offer a variety of social and academic oriented activities enabling the students to learn better. It has a fitness centre located within the hostel premises.

History
Pandit Deendayal Petroleum University (PDPU) was established in on 4th April, 2007 by GERMI as a Private University by an act of Gujarat State Legislature. It has been named after Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay.
