BPS Mahila Vishwavidyalaya is the first Women’s University in North India that started with its first academic session in August 2007. It has been named after the legendary Bhagat Phool Singh, who fought all odds to enlighten the lives of women. Located at Khanpur Kalan (Sonepat) in the state of Haryana, it is one of the initiatives taken by the Government of Haryana to empower women in the state. BPS Mahila Vishwa Vidyalayahas a vast campus spread over a sprawling area of a few acres equipped with world class infrastructure.
 
Educational Streams
BPS Women University has various affiliated colleges under it that impart education and training in professional courses like BAMS, B. Ed, D. Ed, Diploma in Electronics and Communication, Computer Engineering, Pharmacy, Library and Information Science, MLT, IT and Modern Office Practice. 

Besides all theses courses Bhagat Phool Singh Mahila Vishwavidyalaya offers five year and three year LLB courses at PSD Girls Law College. The College of Engineering and Sciences, established by the University provides technical human capital to the corporate sector with emphasis on Information Technology, Computer Education, Medical Sciences, Bio-technology, Environmental Studies and Technology and Management Studies. The University has developed Learning Resource Centers in its premises, which train all the students, irrespective of their professional fields, in English.
 
Facilities
BPS Mahila Vishwavidyalayahas has several affiliated institutes under it. The university ensures that necessary facilities are available in these colleges/institutesto to ensure smooth functioning of education and related activities. General facilities such as a Central Library, hostels for the students and faculty houses for the lecturers are available at the University campus. Modern infrastructural facilities viz. lecture halls, tutorial rooms, conference hall, committee room, laboratories, library, a centre for computer education and information technology has been provided as well.
 
History
The University was established in November 2006 by a Legislative Notification passed by the state. Initially, it functioned as a Kanya Gurukul which was started by Bhagat Phool Singh way back in 1936. The University was established to fulfill the objective of grooming and emancipating women.
