Bhoj Open University

Madhya Pradesh Bhoj Open University, located at Bhopal, is recognized by the University Grants Commission, UGC, of India and the Distance Education Council, DEC, Government of India. A member of the Association of Indian Universities (AIU), the university got functional in 1996.

The university has tailored its courses to suit different target group of learners belonging to various age groups, gender, region, and employment. It conducts easily accessible and quality higher education through Open and Distance Learning (ODL) system. The university makes efforts to take education to the unreached through various flexible means suited to the open and distance education. Information and Communication Technology is used to the hilt to make the objectives possible. Care has been taken to open the study centres of MPBOU at the places where there is no other system of higher education in vicinity. People suffering from physical facilities or belonging to rural/tribal regions are taken care of.

 

 

The university has developed easily accessible system of higher education and training. Different modes of educational inputs are used like lessons in print, text books, contact teaching, practical classes, TV/Radio/Video/Audio programmes, satellite communication, etc. Systems capable of providing quality higher education and training even in remote and less developed rural and tribal areas have been developed. Special care is taken of the requirements, expectations and training needs of interested individuals, practising professionals and students.

 

Madhya Pradesh Bhoj Open University (MPBOU) was established under an Act of State Assembly in 1991 with the concept that distance education is an important medium for the development and promotion of higher education. It was christened on the name of illustrious King Bhoj, a great patron of learning.
