Barkatullah University

Barkatullah University Bhopal is a state University, recognized by University Grant Commission, UGC, and accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council, NAAC. The territorial jurisdiction of the university is in the districts of Bhopal, Sehore , Vidisha , Raisen , Hoshangabad, Harda , Betul, and Rajgarh. The university lays stress on interdisciplinary teaching and research.

 

The University covers almost the total spectrum of higher education, offering courses in its affiliated colleges and the teaching departments in the faculties of Arts, Social Science, Science, Life Science, Home Science, Medicine, Commerce and Business Management, Law, Engineering, Education and Technical Education. 

It provides full-time courses as well as Open and Distance Learning program. The University lays emphasis on interdisciplinary teaching and research. More than one hundred seventy colleges are affiliated to the University. An engineering college, two colleges of education, a technical teachers training institute, as well as a medical science related college are affiliated to this University.

 

Hostels are situated at the campus for both boy and girl students. The University has its own transporting facility providing transportation to its employees between the campus and the city. There is a minority coaching and guidance cell which provides coaching facilities to the students of minority communities for various competitive examinations. Computer Centre, Library, University Press, Science Instrument Center and Center of Buddhist studies are located in university campus.

Barkatullah University, previously known as Bhopal University, came into being in 1970. It was renamed Barkatullah Vishwavidyalaya in 1988, in memory of Prof. Barkatullah, a great freedom fighter from Bhopal.
