Anna University Tirunelveli was established by the Tamilnadu Government to facilitate better outflow of knowledge resources in the region. It is currently functioning from the campus of Government College of Engineering, Tirunelveli which is located 3 Km. from Palayamkottai in NH 7 towards Kanyakumari.
Educational Streams
Anna University Tirunelveli grants affiliation to colleges conducting graduate and post graduate courses related to engineering, technology and management. The University offers undergraduate programmes BE./BTech in a number of technical disciplines. Post -graduate technical courses are offered in Applied Electronics, Computer Science and Engineering, Engineering Design, Power Electronics and Drives, Structural Engineering etc.
All courses conducted by the University are available full time as well as part time. The University has introduced some new undergraduate degree programs in its curriculum as an attempt to provide the youth with the required competitiveness and challenges and guide them to explore their excellence.

History
Anna University Tirunelveli was formed as a result of quadrafurcation of Anna University into four universities, namely, Anna University Chennai, Anna University Trichy, and Anna University Coimbatore and Anna University Thirunelveli. The University imparts education in Bachelor of Engineering, Master of Engineering and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D), and all these programs are available with full time and part time study options.
