Course Details
Eligibility for most of the advertising postgraduate courses is graduation in any discipline with a minimum of 50 percent marks. Admission to most of these courses is based on an entrance exam followed by a personal interview. Some colleges also offer graduation courses in advertising, for which they need students who have cleared Higher Secondary Exams. Specialized courses are also available in advertising/mass communication at diploma level and post graduate level for which essential qualification is graduation. In addition there are also certificate courses for which 10+2 is enough.

Career Prospects
Advertising as a career is a general term, which includes numerous professions. There are several kinds of advertising jobs in a wide variety of areas. Career options are plenty with Advertising Agencies. Job opportunities are there with the in-house advertising departments of Companies, independent Ad agencies, with the media, in Public Relations, TV Software Production etc. You can find a job as a Copy Writer, Art Director/Visualizer, Account Executive/Account Manager, or as Account Planner in advertising agencies. Advertising professionals also can find employment in media including press, TV, radio, exhibitions and anything, which can be used to carry an advertising message. Many Government departments also recruit advertising professional. They can also work as part/full time freelancer in several agencies. Many advertising professionals start their own agencies as it does not require much capital to start an advertising agency.

Career in advertising brings attractive remuneration and perks. Job position and earning in an advertising agency varies with its size and turnover. Fresh graduates can start with a salary of Rs. 9,000 - 15,000 per month. While those with MBAs and professional training in advertising can get salaries ranging from 15,000 to 20,000 per month. Salary of a successful advertising person can be around 30,000 to 50,000 per month depending on the advertising agency or company. A few years down the line, one can expect to earn even more than 2.5 lakhs per annum.
