Located at Cuttack in Orissa, Ravenshaw University has evolved out of a heritage educational institution. Ravenshaw University offers a blend of old and new values and skills. It is an elevation of Ravenshaw College, established in 1868, one of the oldest and largest colleges in India which subsequently became an autonomous college with CPE status by University Grants Commission and ‘A’ grade by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC).
The campus of Ravenshaw University has impressive structures established over about hundred acres of land on the eastern side of Cuttack. It has acquired more land on the bank of river Mahanadi to build its second campus for the new disciplines of Management and Applied Sciences.

Educational Streams
Ravenshaw University offers undergraduate, postgraduate as well as research programmes for the students. Courses offered by the University include three year integrated degree course in Arts, Science and Commerce (All Hons). PG courses are offered in a range of traditional subjects like Applied Geography, Botany, Chemistry, Commerce, Economics, Education, English, Hindi, History, Mathematics, Oriya, Philosophy, Physics, Political Science, Psychology, Sociology and Zoology.
Self-financed courses on professional subjects Computer Science, Biotechnology, Journalism & Mass Communication, and Business Administration are also conducted by the university. Admission procedure of the University for new sessions starts in the month of April and May. PG course in Oriya adds local element to the curriculum.

Facilities
Ravenshaw University provides several hostels at its campus separately for boys and girls. The University canteen provides meals, snacks, tea, coffee, cold drinks at reasonable rates to the students, faculty members and employees of the college. The student information bureau operates in collaboration with the District Employment Office, Cuttack and offers counseling and career guidance to the students.
Other infrastructural facilities include a dispensary, bank, post office, gymnasium and huge parking lots. The University has also made provision for sports facilities that include basketball court, cricket pitch, football ground, hockey, volleyball court and field for athletic events.

History
Ravenshaw University was set up in 2006 (elevated from Ravenshaw College). The University is recognised by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under section 12(b) of the UGC Act. History of this great institution can be easily co-related with the history of modern Orissa.
