Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda University

Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda University was accorded the deemed University status by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India on January 5th , 2005. The University is proposed to be an international center of learning that would function from any of the branch-centres of Ramakrishna Mission in India and abroad. Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda University has its headquarters at Belur Math, West Bengal.

 

RKMVU offers courses in the subjects that receive little emphasis in the conventional universities. It has developed a number of faculties that conduct a number of unconventional courses. The university recognizes the importance of contemporary professional education too and has proper infrastructure to provide education on modern subjects.

 

The Faculty of Disability Management and Special Education offers special education for candidates who aspire to acquire skills in teaching and rehabilitating children with visual impairment, hearing impairment and mental disability. The Faculty conducts courses ranging from diploma to doctorate level. Students who have completed higher secondary, graduation or post-graduation degree can join these courses. The Faculty of Indian Culture and Spiritual Heritage offers diploma course in Integrated Self Development and postgraduate diploma course in Essentials of Spiritual Heritage of India and Integrated MA course in Sanskrit.

 

The Faculty of Integrated Rural Development and Management, at Narendrapur branch offers MSc and PhD courses in Integrated Rural Development and Management, postgraduate diploma course in Agro-based Biotechnology, and courses on Medicinal Plants and Ayurvedic Drug Technology. The Faculty of Integrated Rural and Tribal Development at Ranchi (Morabadi) centre offers BSc and MSc courses along with postgraduate diploma course in Agro-based Biotechnology.

 

Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda University offers boarding and lodging facilities separately for men and women. Other facilities include an organized central library, computer center, sports grounds and other sports related facilities, yoga center, gymnasium and a health care center providing free medical check ups to students, teachers and all staff members.

 

Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda University was established in the year 1956 under the aegis of Ramakrishna Mission. The Government of India under Section 3 of University Grants Commission (UGC) Act, 1956 declared RKMVU as a University.
