Rajendra Agricultural University

Rajendra Agricultural University (RAU) is one of the largest agricultural universities in India.  It is located at Pusa in Samastipur District of Bihar. It was established in 1970 with the mission to develop technology and strategies for enhancement in agriculture and allied sciences. RAU Samastipur has been enlisted in the recognized universities of the UGC, and is also one of the paneled members of the Association of Indian Universities (AIU).
 
Educational Streams
Rajendra Agricultural University Pusa offers Bachelors, Masters and PhD programs in several agricultural disciplines. Courses conducted by the university are funded by the University Grants Commission. Since its establishment, RAU is committed to produce efficient human resources that prove to be beneficial to the agricultural sector of the country. 

The university also conducts research work in allied areas of agricultural sciences. It is the only university in Bihar to provide MBA in Agribusiness. The university has established training wing to sort out the difficulties of local farmers. Kisan Melas, Kisan Diary, Farm Advisory services, Agricultural Technology Information Center (ATIC) and Krishi Vigyan Centers have been quite beneficial for the locals.
 
Admissions to different Bachelor Degree Programs are held through Bihar Combined Entrance Competitive Examination conducted by the Government of Bihar for 85% of the seats. For 15% of the seats, selection is made by All India Entrance Examination conducted by ICAR and VCI. Admission in Master Degree Programs is made through a competitive test conducted by the University by calculating the marks of Entrance-cum-academic performance. PhD seats are also filled on the basis of merit of the students.
 
Facilities
Rajendra Agricultural University library provides learning material to the students, teachers and researchers and supports teaching, research and extension programmes. Seminars and workshops are held regularly to give vital exposure to the students.
 
History
Rajendra Agricultural University came into being in 1970. It has significantly contributed to local agriculture. RAU serves about 80 million population of the state where livelihoods of 90% households depend on agriculture. The university has proved as an innovator in the region for development in agriculture and allied sciences.
