Mahatma Phule Krishi Vidyapeeth

Mahatma Phule Krishi Vidyapeeth or MPKV Rahuri, one of noted agricultural universities in the state of Maharashtra, is a reorganized form of Maharashtra Krishi Vidyapeeth, Rahuri. Establishment in 1968, it is located on Pune-Delhi highway at Rahuri in Ahmednagar district. The University looks after a number of research stations spread over different agro-climatic zones. The university is a statutory body of the Government of Maharashtra.

 

MPKV Rahuri aims to create and develop scientific and technical manpower for obtaining the highest production and productivity in each farm system to bring them at export level. The university offers B Sc / B Tech / M Sc / M Tech in Agriculture, Horticulture, Forestry and Agricultural Engineering. The University also conducts lower level agricultural education through Horticulture Training Centre and trainings for livestock supervisors.  PhD in offered in several branches of agriculture. Admissions are held under the guidance of Maharashtra Council of Agricultural Education and Research (MCAER), Pune. Reservation is granted as per the government guidelines in the state. Training programs for agricultural extension are often held considering the need of farmers. MPKV Rahuri has released number of varieties of important crops of the region.

Library, Gymkhana Hall and University play ground at central campus are regularly maintained. NSS programs are regularly held in the constituent colleges. The farm library has abstract database of post graduate research theses. The library is equipped with computers with internet access enabling the readers to collect references and information. The library has video cassets on agriculture and allied subjects. Facilities like Xerox services and Inter library loan have also been provided.
