Maharashtra University of Health Sciences

Incepted in 1998, Maharashtra University of Health Sciences (MUHS), Nashik has been imparting proper and systematic instruction, teaching, training and research in modern medicine and Indian systems of medicine in the state of Maharashtra. The institute has made consistent progress since it came into being. The state legislature passed Maharashtra University of Health Sciences Act 1999. All colleges and institutions imparting education in health science in Maharashtra are affiliated to the university.
 
Educational Streams
Comprehending the need of health sciences to the human society, the university aims to produce skilled manpower in medical sector through module-based conventional, short-term regular and part-time courses in several disciplines. A program Leadership in Public Health Management is also offered by the university. Admissions to all the courses are made on the basis of merit either on entrance test or qualifying exam. The knowledge update program has proven to be quite beneficial for the students. The university conducts common entrance test to admit candidates. The university has established regional centres in Mumbai, Pune, Aurangabad, Nagpur and Kolhapur.
 
Facilities
The university has extended the scope of getting medical education by setting up regional centers at Mumbai, Pune, Aurangabad, Nagpur and Kolhapur. The placement cell takes care of the post education needs of the students. The university maintains a Digital Library (web based) that enables accessing information from a remote location. All the affiliated institutions of MUHS are authorized for accessing the contents of Digital Library.
 
History
Maharashtra University of Health Sciences (MUHS), located at Nasik, was established in 1998 by the state Government of Maharashtra. The State Legislature passed Maharashtra University of Health Sciences Act 1999 and received the assent of the Governor, as published in the Maharashtra Government Gazette in 1999. The University was declared open by the Governor of Maharashtra in 1998.
