Maharaja Ganga Singh University or Bikaner University, has contributed a lot in the evolution of tertiary education in Rajasthan. Bikaner University, through teaching, research and extension, endeavors to understand the problems of the region in which it is located. At the same time, the university also imparts education which is universally recognized.
Educational Streams
Maharaja Ganga Singh University is the nucleus of higher education in the region. Vision document of the university includes Post Graduate and Undergraduate teaching, Doctoral and Post Doctoral Researches, Organisation of Seminars, Referesher courses for teachers, and Preparing teaching material based on latest researches and insights. The university has started job oriented courses such as development of communication skills, project management and development of entrepreneurship, MCA, information technology, foreign languages, etc. 
Law faculty of the university has its own library. All affiliated colleges too have their own libraries. It has developed hi-tech laboratories with latest modern equipments related to modern technology of education. The university has a Planning and Monitoring Board equipped with modern management information system. A staff development board for training and retraining of teaching and non-teaching staff is onnected to the university. Social justice cell looks into the cases of socially deprived segment of students and gender discrimination.
