KVAFSU Bidar

Headquartered at Bidar, Karnataka Veterinary, Animal and Fisheries Sciences University (KVAFSU) was established by the state Government to uplift the rural livestock, poultry and fish farmers. KVAFSU is an autonomous academic organization governed by its board of management which regulates University polices in accordance with provision of the Act. The territorial jurisdiction of the university is spread across the entire state of Karnataka covering all 27 districts.  
 
Educational Streams
Karnataka Veterinary, Animal and Fisheries Sciences University works in teaching, research and extension education services related to veterinary and animal sciences, dairy sciences, fisheries and other allied sciences. 

KVAFSU offers three undergraduate programmes at the six constituent colleges located in five campuses in Veterinary, Dairy Technology (DTech) and Fisheries (B F Sc). Besides the UG programs, KVAFSU also offers several courses at the postgraduate level and the Doctoral Degree (PhD) level at the constituent and affiliated colleges.
 
For admission into undergraduate degree programmes of the University, one should have passed 10+2 in science stream and appeared for Common Entrance Test conducted by Government of Karnataka. For securing admission in Masters degree programs one should possess a degree in B.V.Sc. / B.V.Sc. & A.H. / B.Sc. (D Tech) B Sc (D. Tech.)/ BTech. (D Tech.)/ BFSc from a recognized University and appear for ICAR-JRF entrance exam. 

Doctoral programmes could be pursued by candidates having a Master’s degree in the subject concerned from a recognized University and appeared ICAR / CSIR –SRF exam.
 
History
Karnataka Veterinary, Animal and Fisheries Sciences University was established on 2nd February 2005 by the Government of Karnataka. It was created by the passing of the Karnataka Veterinary, Animal and Fisheries Sciences University Bill, 2004 in the Karnataka State Legislative Assembly on February 10, 2004.
