Jain Vishva Bharati University

Jain Vishva Bharti University is one of the developing deemed universities in Rajasthan. The campus, which came into existence in 1991 is set on the ancient Gurukul tradition. Located at Ladnun, a small town in Nagaur District of Rajasthan, Jain Vishva Bharti University has been declared as Deemed to be University by the Government of India as per recommendations made by University Grants Commission (UGC). The institute has been accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with B++ Grade.
 
Educational Streams
JVBI offers regular undergraduate and postgraduate courses on Jainology, Comparative Religion and Philosophy, Non-violence and Peace Studies, Science of Living and Social work. The university also conducts distance education programs which have been recognized by Distance Education Council (DEC). Masters degree holders can register themselves for PhD. Extensive activities are undertaken to enable the backward section of society attain education.
 
 Applicants for Undergraduate Courses should have passed 10+2 or equivalent examination from any recognized University or board with minimum 50% of marks in aggregate (5% relaxation in case of SC/ST/OBC/Women). Post Graduate applicants should be graduate in any discipline having secured at least 50% marks in aggregate (5%relaxation in case of ST/SC/OBC/Women). Admission test and interviews are followed by group discussion. The Entrance examination is based on objective General Knowledge and Hindi or English.
 
Facilities
Separate hostels are provided to both boys and girls. Library has a large number of books and rare manuscripts. Subscription facility is offered for journals and periodicals. Computer Center, Yoga and Meditation Center, Ayurvedic dispensary, Audio Visual Center and a Guest House are also available in the institute. A training cell is run in collaboration with Jeevan Vigyan Academy for providing exposure to Science of Living and Preksha Meditation.
 
History
The institute JVBI was founded by Gurudev Tulsi in 1970. In 1991, Government of India notified Jain Vishva Bharati Institute as Deemed University under University Grants Commission Act, 1956.  The name of the institute has been changed as Jain Vishva Bharti University as per the notification issued by University Grants Commission, UGC, in 2006.
