Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology (IIIT Delhi) is a State University. The University was formed to acknowledge the outstanding academic performance of the institute and to empower it to do research and development activities and grant degrees.
Educational Streams
Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) offers two programmes in the field of information technology namely BTech (IT), MTech (IT) and PhD in Computer Science. It plans to have focused research groups in some areas of IT and some other domain areas. Presently the subjects of specializations for research are Biometrics, Data mining and management, Mobile and Ubiquitous computing and Software Engineering.
Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology aims to train and educate engineers at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, who can become innovators and new product creators. Another major objective of the University is to carry out advanced research and development in the field of information and software technologies.
Facilities
Office-cum campus of IIIT Delhi is located on the 3rd Floor of the Library Building of NSIT. The interiors have been designed specifically for IIIT utility purpose housing the administrative offices, faculty offices, class rooms, computer labs and some recreation facilities like TT table and a pool table. Hostel accommodation facility is also available for IIITD students through NSIT.
History
The Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology was declared as a State University by an Act passed by the Legislative Assembly of Delhi (The IIIT Delhi Act, 2007). It has established itself as a reputed organisation that provides various professional engineering courses to the aspiring candidates. Currently it is successfully functioning from its campus in NSIT, Dwarka.
Researchers at the IIIT-D has innovated a new system called MultiOSN, which helps in monitoring multiple online social media during real-world events.
