Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (GUDVASU) was established with the objective of promoting livestock production, health and prevention of diseases through integrated teaching and extension programs in related fields. It is located at Ludhiana in Punjab and aims to serve the rural people of Punjab by improving their quality of life producing specialists within them.
Educational Streams
Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University has established several institutions for the purpose of educating students in the related fields of veterinary sciences. The College of Fisheries under it is the only college in the states of Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and Jammu & Kashmir for producing professionally and technically qualified manpower to cater the needs of fast developing fisheries sector.
The University offers five year and four year integrated programs in Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Fisheries Science, and Dairy Technology. Masters degree is offered in Veterinary Sciences and Fishery Sciences. Students can pursue research in Veterinary Sciences, Zoology and Fisheries.
Veterinary Hospital, located in the hospital premises, provides clinical training to the students. Applicants are required to pass 10+2 or equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English from a recognized Board/University with minimum 50% marks in aggregate to secure admission in these undergraduate degree courses.

Facilities
The veterinary hospital as well as dairy and poultry farms help students in training and research. A book bank located in the complex provides students with the textbooks. A books and journals in various fields of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry is available in the book bank. The university provides hostel facility to the out-station students. Students can also access internet at the Computer Centre.
History
Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University was established on 9th August, 2005, at Ludhiana to serve the rural society engaged in farming and animal husbandry. The University has evolved out of Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana that was first established at Hissar in the year 1962, where the College of Veterinary Science existed since 1948.

GADVASU Common Entrance Test is scheduled to be held on June 26, 2013 for admission into various undergraduate courses in veterinary, fisheries and dairy technology, offered in the session 2013-14.
