Gandhi Institute of Technology and Management University, the first private university in Andhra Pradesh, is popularly known as GITAM University. In the years after its inception, GITAM has emerged as one of the most sought-after centers of professional education in the country. GITAM Institute of International Business has evolved as a premier seat of learning on the Eastern coast of Andhra Pradesh.

Gandhi Institute of Technology and Management has several Institutions affiliated to itself imparting world-class education in the fields of science, engineering and business at undergraduate, post-graduate and diploma level. It has established tie-ups with Federation of Andhra Pradesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Tobacco Board, Girijan Co-operative Corporation and Visakhapatnam Port Trust.

 

The University has separate hostel for boys and girls available with double occupation single occupation rooms. The hostel provides all the basic facilities like excellent dining facilities (160 students at a time), with solar water heaters, steam cooking, in coming and out going phones, with a sea view and delicious food. The campus houses three restaurants catering to different tastes of the students. The University library is modern and fully computerized offering a vast collection of books and periodicals and monographs in the fields of Engineering, Technology, Science, Management, Medicine, Pharmacy, Literature and books on various areas of general interest. Union Bank of India has an extension counter in the campus. An Indoor stadium is equipped with indoor games like volley ball, basket ball, shuttle badminton etc with all the facilities required for the sportsman and spectators.

Gandhi Institute of Technology and Management (GITAM) was established in 1980, as a dream child of an inspired group of eminent intellectuals and industrialists of Andhra Pradesh. On 14 August 2007GITAM University was founded as a result of the efforts of the management.
