Dravidian University

Dravidian University at Kuppam was established by the Government of Andhra Pradesh to integrate development of Dravidian languages, both written and spoken, including the Tribal languages of the Dravidian family. Dravidian university offers high level education in Dravidian languages, literature, culture and allied subjects.
 
Educational Streams
Dravidian university is the first in the state of Andhra Pradesh to start 5 year Integrated Choice Based Credit System (CBCS). Soft Skills Enhancement Training (ASSET) such as Communication, Computer, Analytical, Personality Development, and Career Perspectives are an additional part of CBCS. 

The University has also developed a new educational program known as the 21st Century Gurukulam (21CG), which is envisioned as a self-sustaining community, modeled after the ancient Gurukulam. The purpose of 21CG is to provide remedial education and IT training leading to a postgraduate degree in IT. 
The University Admissions are conducted in the month of May through Entrance Texts. The entrance tests are conducted at Hyderabad, Vijayawada, Kuppam, Krishnagiri, Kolar, Chittoor, Madanapalle, and Nellore.
 
Facilities
The University has separate hostels for boys and girls on the campus. Students are admitted on the basis of the distance of their hometown and the availability of accommodation. Infrastructural facilities include canteen, post office, Andhra Bank, shopping complex, multipurpose gym, tennis, badminton, basket ball and volley ball courts, recreation centre and Fine Arts Club.The University has established two well-equipped modern computer laboratories with round the clock internet connectivity. There is a Language Laboratory too that equips the students with communication skills in English and also for the presentation of Audio-Visual material.
 
History
Dravidian University was established by a Legislative Act in October 1997. The University is situated at a trilingual junction at Kuppam, Chittoor Dstrict in the South-Western tip of Andhra Pradesh and very close to Kerala border.
