Dr Balasaheb Sawant Konkan Krishi Vidyapeeth

Dr Balasaheb Sawant Konkan Krishi Vidyapeeth or DBSKKV Dapoli, is situated at Dapoli in Ratnagiri Distirict of Konkan region. The institute has its jurisdiction Brihan-Mumbai, Thane, Raigad, Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg districts of Maharashtra state. The key objective of the university is agricultural education, research and extension education in an integrated mode to attain the sustainable agricultural development of Konkan region. 

 

Nurturing the academic career of its learners, the university imparts education through professional undergraduate course in Fishery Sciences along with postgraduate course with specialization in Aquaculture, Fish Processing Technology, Fisheries Resource Management and Extension Education. A Doctorate in Fisheries is also offered by the institute. The research base is based on the needs of the farmers and focused on solving the agriculture related problems. Extension education comprises of farmer training, farmer meets, agricultural exhibitions, training programs for extension workers etc. Some forms of extension education are farm tours, method & result demonstrations, group discussions, film shows, agricultural campaigns etc.

 

The university maintains the pace of all-round development of students by providing student counseling, sport education and the scheme of learning while earning. Boys hostel is available in university campus. All the departments have own laboratory. Activities like NCC / NSS, Tree plantation, Blood donation camp, adult education, plant protection campaigns, fisheries development, fishing and fishnet weaving help in overall development of the students. The placement cell takes care of post education needs of the students.

DBSKKV Dapoli was established in 1972 as Konkan Krishi Vidyapeethm in the Konan region of Maharashtra. In 2001, it was renamed as Dr Balasaheb Sawant Konkan Krishi Vidyapeeth. The university has had remarkable contribution in the promotion of professional education in Konkan region.
