MAMC (Maulana Azad Medical College)
Maulana Azad Medical College and associated hospital complex consist of four integral units, namely, Maulana Azad Medical College, Lok Nayak Hospital, Govind Ballabh Pant Hospital and Guru Nanak Eye Centre. MAMC offers courses in medical specialties at the undergraduate, post graduate, and at the post doctoral levels. All the courses are recognised by the Medical Council of India and affiliated to the University of Delhi. Undergraduate Courses: Maulana Azad Medical College offers MBBS and BDS courses at the undergraduate level. There are 180 seats in the MBBS course and 20 seats in the BDS course. The course duration of MBBS is 5½ years (including 1 year of internship) and that of BDS is 5 years (including 1 year of internship). For both the courses 15% of total seats are filled in through the entrance examination conducted by the C.B.S.E. on all India basis. 15% of total seats are reserved for Scheduled Caste and 7½% seats are reserved for Schedule Tribes. 9 seats in MBBS are reserved for son/daughter/widows of Armed personnel disabled or killed in action during hostilities and 6 seats in MBBS are reserved for Government of India nominees. Rest of the seats are filled on merit basis through DPMT Entrance Test conducted by Delhi University. Postgraduate Courses: MAMC offers postgraduate degrees and diplomas in a variety of medical specialties. A total of 62 seats are available for MD, 25 for MS, and 26 for postgraduate diploma courses. The duration of MD/MS courses is 3 years and Diploma courses is 2 years. 25% of seats are filled through the All India PG Entrance Examination and the rest 75% of seats are filled through the PG Entrance Exam conducted by the University of Delhi. Following postgraduate courses are offered by MAMC: M.D.: Anaesthesia (6), Biochemistry including M. Sc. (2), Dermatology including Venerology (3), Forensic Medicine (2), Medicine (13), Microbiology (4), Obstt.and Gynaecology (5), Pathology (4), Paediatrics (10), Pharmacology (2), Physiology (2), Community Medicine (2), Psychiatry (2), Radiodiagnosis (3), AND Radio-Therapy (2). M.S.: Anatomy (3), E.N.T. (3), Orthopaedics (4), Ophthalmology (7), and Surgery (8). Post Graduate Diploma Courses: D.A. (8), D. C.H. (5), D.G.O.(5), D.M.R.D. (2), D.O. (4), D.L.O. (1), and D.V.D. (1). Post Doctoral Courses: MAMC offers post doctoral courses in 7 super-specialties and a total of 23 students are admitted each year. The admission to postdoctoral courses are made through the entrance examination conducted by the University of Delhi. Following Post Doctoral courses are offered by MAMC: D.M. (Cardiology)(5), D.M.
