IIM Calcutta

IIM Calcutta is one of the top management institutes in the country. Indian Institute of Management Calcutta was established in November 1961 in collaboration with Alfred P. Sloan School of Management (MIT), the Government of West Bengal, The Ford Foundation and Indian industry. IIM Calcutta was the first of the prestigious Indian Institutes of Management to be established in India.

Major courses offered by IIM Kolkata are:

Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM): This course equips the student to face the challenges of modeling unstructured business problems and proposing solutions to such problems. The course duration is two years and admissions are made on the basis of performance in Common Admission Test (CAT), group discussion and personal interview.

Post Graduate Diploma in Computer Aided Management (PGDCM): This programme was launched in 1994. It is a two-year full-time programme with special emphasis on Information Technology (IT) and its application to business.

Post Graduate Diploma in Business Management (PGDBM): This is a three-year part time evening programme launched in 1994, to offer working executives the opportunity to gain insights into various facets of management. A candidate seeking admission to PGDBM should hold a 3-year Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 2 years work experience after graduation at an Executive / Supervisory level. The admissions are made on the basis of performance in Common Admission Test (CAT), relevant academic records, work experience and personal interview.

Post Graduate Programme For Executives (PGPEX): This is a one-year full time residential programme being launched by IIM Calcutta in December 2006. The aim of the program is to develop experienced and ambitious executives for leadership positions in global organizations. The candidates seeking admission to PGPEX should have a graduate degree, at least 5 years of full time post qualification experience, and a valid GMAT score (taken within last 36 months).

Fellow Programmes in Management (FPM): IIM Calcutta offers full time doctoral programme in different fields and related disciplines of Management. A candidate seeking admission to the doctoral programme should have a Master's degree in any subject with at least 55 per cent marks; and a minimum 50 per cent aggregate marks at the three-year Bachelor's degree level OR alternatively the candidate should have a First Class Bachelor's degree in Engineering. Admission to doctoral programs is made on the basis of Common Admission Test (CAT) and personal interview.
