IIM Bangalore

IIM Bangalore is one of the top management institutes in the country. The Indian Institute of Management Bangalore was established in 1973 and since then the institute has evolved into a premier centre for management education and research.

Various courses offered by IIM Bangalore are:

Post Graduate Programme in Business Management: This is the flagship programme of the institute. The course duration is of two years and number of students admitted to the programme every year is around 240. The programme lasts six trimesters, spread over two years, with a summer project in between the two years. IIM Bangalore has the distinction of offering the largest variety of elective courses in the second year of the PGP. There is separate admission procedure for domestic candidates and overseas candidates. Domestic students are admitted on the basis of performance in on performance in Common Admission Test (CAT), scholastic achievement, work experience, performance in the group discussions, written summary of group discussion, and interview, and three letters of reference. Overseas candidates are admitted through direct applications. They are required to take Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) and have an official result reported to the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIMB).

Post Graduate Programme in Software Enterprise Management (PGSEM): This programme is offered simultaneously in Bangalore and Chennai. It is customized for mid-career professional in the Software and Information Technology industry. The program has been designed such in such a manner that a participant can graduate with the diploma at the end of two and a half academic years, while continuing to work at his/her regular place of employment. Every year around 150 candidates are admitted to the course. Candidates seeking admission to PGSEM must be graduate with a minimum of two years experience in the Software / IT industry. Admission are on the basis of CAT / GMAT / PGSEM Admission Test and personal interview.

Post Graduate Programme in Public Policy & Management (PGPPM): This is a two-year programme leading to a Post Graduate Diploma in Public Policy and Management. The course is designed to equip mid-career civil servants with the concepts, skills, and techniques in formulating public policy and strategic management of public systems. The programme is sponsored by the Department of Personnel and Training, Government of India and is open to officers of All India Services, and Central Services.

Doctoral Programme: The doctoral programme is equivalent to Ph.D. The programme has the first two years in common with the Post Graduate Programme. After the second year, doctoral students work on advanced courses and for their doctoral thesis. The applicants to IIM Bangalore should either be Master's degree holder (min. 55% marks) / Chartered Accountant (CA) with a minimum of 55% marks/ B.E. or B.Tech with at least 60% marks and a minimum of two years work experience. In addition the applicant must also satisfy the eligibility criteria for the Common Admission Test (CAT).
