Xavier Institute of Communications Mumbai

Xavier Institute of Communications (XIC) Mumbai is one of the premiere non-government media centres in Asia. XIC is an autonomous educational unit of the Bombay St. Xavier's College Society Trust and is located on the St. Xavier's College campus, Mumbai. XIC was established in 1969 and is presently managed by the Society of Jesus (Jesuits) of the Bombay Province.

Academic Programs Offered by XIC Mumbai

1. Journalism & Mass Communication: This is a full time, post-graduate diploma programme.

Eligibility: Graduate in Arts, Science, Mass Media, or Commerce with at least 50 percent marks. Preference is given to non-working students because of the intensive nature of the programme.

Admission Procedure: Entrance test followed by an individual interview.

2. Public Relations & Corporate Communications: This programme familiarizes students with contemporary media and various tools and vehicles of communications.

Eligibility: Graduate in Arts, Science, Commerce, Mass Media with at least 50 percent marks. Preference is given to non-working students because of the intensive nature of the programme.

Admission Procedure: Entrance test followed by an interview and a group discussion.

3. Advertising & Marketing: This programme provides thorough working knowledge of advertising and marketing and their critical inter-relatedness.

Eligibility: Graduate in Arts, Science, Commerce, BMS (business) or BMM (media), with at least 50 percent marks. Non-graduates who have completed five years of full-time work in an advertising agency may be considered. Preference is given to non-working students because of the intensive nature of the programme.

4. Television & Video Production: This course provides an integrated overview of film and television with emphasis on direction and production.

Eligibility: Graduate in Arts, Mass Media, Science or Commerce with at least 50 percent marks. Only non-working candidates are considered for admission. Every student should preferably have an SLR camera of their own for the still photography module.

5. Digital Media: This programme equips the students with the necessary skills and knowledge required in Digital Media.

Eligibility: Graduate in Commercial Art, Science, Mass Media, Commerce or Arts with some artistic ability and a flair for visualization. Non graduate students who have creative skills have to submit their art portfolio and attend a drawing test. Preference is given to non-working students.

6. Advanced Graduate Diploma in Advertising, Marketing and Public Relations: This programme gives comprehensive practical knowledge to the candidates in the field of Marketing, Sales, Advertising, Market Research, Corporate Communications and Public Relations.

Eligibility: Working professionals who are graduates in any discipline and have work experience of between one to five years in Advertising, Marketing, or Public Relations.
