Indian Administrative Service (IAS) exam is one of the competitive job entrance tests, which is conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). The entrance test is conducted for recruitment of candidates in civil services as Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officials. The three-stage examination is conducted at various test centers throughout the country. First of all, candidates have to qualify two stages of written test i.e. preliminary and main exam and the personal interview round. On the basis of the merit list, only selected candidates are called for the personal interview, which is conducted by Union Public Service Commission (UPSC).

Personal interview, which is conducted by Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), is aimed at judging the personality of candidates and their mental ability. Candidates are considered eligible only after qualifying the interview round, for the job of civil servants. The interviewer does not follow any particular format for interviewing candidates, because it may vary. It may or may not be a question -answer round. Candidates are advised not to ask other candidates about their interview round, as it may differ. In the interview round, candidates may be asked about their background, areas of interests and hobbies, opted subjects and current affairs.
