Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology (VNIT) Nagpur is amongst the institutes of National Importance in India. Formerly known as Visvesvaraya Regional College of Engineering (VRCE), it was established in June 1960 with the first six Regional Engineering Colleges set up in different parts of the country for promoting technical education.
The institute has been named after the eminent engineer and scientist Bharat Ratna Sir M. Visvesvaraya. On 26 June 2002, VRCE was accorded the status of Deemed University and was renamed as Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology (VNIT) Nagpur.

Eligibility:
Undergraduate:BE / B Tech / UG / Undergraduate: Minimum educational qualification required is a pass in the Higher Secondary or 10+2 examination with at least 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics (45% of marks for SC Students and 40% of marks for ST students)
Post Graduate:ME / M Tech / PG / Postgraduate
Aspiring candidates must hold a Bachelor?s degree in Engineering/Technology or equivalent in an appropriate area, with at least 60% marks or equivalent for General category students (55 % marks for SC/ST students) for pursuing ME/MTech study.
Doctorate:PhD / Doctorate / Research:
For pursuing PhD in Engineering a first Class or more than 60% is required in BE / B Tech (or equivalent examination) and M Tech / M Tech (by research) in basic branch (or allied branch of engineering). For PhD Sciences one needs a first class at BSc and MSc in relevant discipline.
Admission Procedure:

Admission is granted to the eligible candidates on the basis of AIEEE scores. Students are admitted under Home State and All India quota through centralized admission process by Central Counseling Board (CCB) constituted by Govt. of India. Reservation of Seats is as per Government of India rules.
Entrance Test: AIEEE ExamPost Graduate:M Tech / ME / PG / Postgraduate
Candidates having valid GATE scores are given preference for admission onto the M Tech course. However if GATE qualified candidates are not available then the vacant seats, if any, are offered to non-GATE candidates on the basis of their merit in written test / interview conducted at respective departments of the Institute. However the sponsored candidates are not granted any financial support from the Institute. Reservation of Seats is as per Government of India rules.

Doctorate:PhD / Doctorate / Research: Eligible students are required to appear for written test to be conducted in the respective departments by the institute. The short-listed students are then admitted on the basis of performance in the written test and interview.
