Sree Neelakanta Govt. Sanskrit (SNGS) College, located in Palakkad district of Kerala, is a co-educational institute, run by the Government of Kerala. The college was established as a Sanskrit school in 1889 by Sri Punnasseri Nampi Neelakanta Sarma. The Sanskrit school was converted into Central Sanskrit College after getting affiliated to the University of Madras. Thereafter, post affiliation from the University of Kerala, the college introduced some degree courses other than sanskrit in 1966-67. Gradually, the college introduced other undergraduate and post graduate courses. In 1993, Government of Kerala upgraded the institution as a Centre of Excellence. SNGS College is currently affiliated to the University of Calicut and accredited by NAAC. The college conducts various undergraduate and post graduate courses in arts, science, and commerce faculties.

Candidates who have passed their 10+2 level examination of Kerala State Examination Board, or its equivalent, in any discipline are eligible for the BA/B.Com courses offered here. Those who have completed the same in science subjects are eligible to apply for the B.Sc courses offered here.
Post Graduate:
Graduates in relevant subject are eligible for the MA/M.Sc/M.Com courses offered here.
Doctorate:
Candidates with post graduation in relevant subject are eligible for the doctoral level programs.
Undergraduate:
Admission of the selected candidates is done on the basis of percentage of marks obtained by them in the 10+2 level and personal interview, as per the norms of the University of Calicut.
Post Graduate:
Admission into post graduate programs is made on the basis of the merit of the students and as per the norms of the University of Calicut.
Doctorate:
Admission into various doctoral programs is conducted as per the norms of the University of Calicut.
