Purushottam Institute of Engineering and Technology, located in Rourkela (Orissa), came into existence in 1999. It is managed and run by Puroshottam Education and Welfare Trust. The engineering institute is approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), Government of India, New Delhi. Purushottam Institute of Engineering and Technology is affiliated to Biju Patnaik University of Technology (BPUT), Rourkela as well as to Sambalpur University, Sambalpur.

The institute offers undergraduate level programme in the field of engineering - Bachelor of Technology (B Tech). Apart from engineering course, it also imparts postgraduate level programmes in the field of computer applications (MCA) and management (MBA).
