Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya Institute for the Physically Handicapped Delhi started functioning from the year 1975. Its undergraduate course is affiliated to the University of Delhi and comes under the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Govt. of India. Apart from this main course, Pt. Deendayal Upadhyaya Institute for the Physically Handicapped is conducting short-term training programmes to update the knowledge of the professionals and personnels working in the field of rehabilitation.
 
Not only for the professionals, but the institute is also busy in conducting orientation and awareness programmes, to make different group of people aware of the causes and prevention of disabilities and related problems. On the positive part of the programme, it also makes people aware about the facilities available for the disabled people. Pt. Deendayal Upadhyaya Institute for the Physically Handicapped Delhi came in sight, when Govt. of India took over the Jawahar Lal Nehru Institute of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and other allied institutions run by the Council for the Aid of Crippled & Handicapped, in the year 1975.

Eligibility:

Undergraduate:
Candidates are eligible to apply, provided they have successfully completed 10+2 with science stream, from a recognized Board.

Post Graduate Diploma:
One year Bridge course-Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy is designed for
Passed out students of Bsc (Hons.) PT/OT of 3½ years duration to 4½ years duration course.

One year duration Bridge course- Identified by RCI, in affiliation with JR University, is offered to Diploma holders to Degree in Prosthetics and Orthotics.
Admission Procedure:

Undergraduate:
Admission is done through an entrance test, conducted by University of Delhi.

Post Graduate Diploma:
Admission is done on the basis of merit of the candidates in the qualifying examination.
