National Institute of Technology (NIT) Srinagar, established by the Government of India as a Regional Engineering College, is one of the top science, technology and engineering colleges in India. REC Srinagar was one of the first eight Regional Engineering Colleges established during the first Five Year Plan.
National Institute of Technology (NIT) Srinagar offers B Tech, MTech, M Phil and PhD programmes in several fields of engineering. NIT Srinagar was earlier affiliated to the University of Kashmir and later the central government upgraded REC Srinagar to the category of National Institute of Technology and it was accorded the status of Deemed University.

Eligibility:
Undergraduate:One should have cleared Higher Secondary or 10+2 examination with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics with at least 50% marks for admission in BE / BTech courses.
Post Graduate:Minimum academic qualification required is a pass in B.E./ B.Tech or equivalent degree in the relevant discipline with not less than 60% marks or 6.5 CGPA in the qualifying examination is needed for admission in ME / MTech course.
Doctorate:Students should have passed ME / MTech in relevant discipline with at least 60 percent marks in aggregate.
Admission Procedure:
Undergraduate:Admission is granted to the eligible candidates on the basis of AIEEE score.
Entrance Test: AIEEE ExamPost Graduate:Candidates having valid GATE scores are given preference for admission onto the M Tech course. Other eligible candidate can apply under the sponsored having at least two years of working experience in the respective field. However the sponsored candidates are not granted any financial support from the Institute.
