National Institute of Technology (NIT) Silchar holds a prominent place in the field of technical education in India.
National Institute of Technology (NIT), Silchar is one of premier engineering institutes of India. The institute was formerly known as Regional Engineering College, Silchar and was established in 1967 as a joint venture of Government of India and Government of Assam.
NIT Silchar started its classes in the year 1977 and presently offers undergraduate and postgraduate programs in various branches of engineering.
In 2002, the institute was accorded the status of Deemed University and was renamed as National Institute of Technology, Silchar.

MEEligibility:
Undergraduate:BE / B Tech / UG / Undergraduate: Pass in the Higher Secondary or 10+2 examination with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics, is required for admission in BE / BTech courses.
Post Graduate:ME / M Tech / PG / Postgraduate: Pass in B.E./B.Tech or equivalent degree in the relevant discipline with not less than 60% marks or 6.5 CGPA in the qualifying examination is needed for admission in ME/MTech course.
Doctorate:PhD / Doctorate / Research: Students should have passed BE/ BTech / MSc in relevant discipline with minimum 65% marks in aggregate or 7.0 CGPA OR cleared ME / MTech in relevant discipline with at least 60 percent marks in aggregate (or 6.5 CGPA) at both BTech / MSc and MTech levels.
