M S Ramaiah Institute of Technology was started by Sri M.S. Ramaiah. It was founded in 1962 under the Gokula Education Foundation. It offers courses approved by All India Council for Technical Education, AICTE, New Delhi. The college is affiliated to Visveswaraiah Technological University, Belgaum. M S Ramaiah Institute of Technology conducts undergraduate and postgraduate level programmes in the field of engineering - Bachelor of Technology (B Tech) and Master of Technology (M Tech). Undergraduate:
Candidates must have passed 10+2 level of examination with minimum 50% marks in aggregate in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics, from any recognized Board.
Post Graduate:
M Tech
Candidates need to have a technical degree BE/B Tech from VTU or equivalent in the relevant discipline scoring minimum 50% marks (45% for SC/ST) to secure admission.
MBA
Candidates should have passed the Bachelor degree examinations with not less than 50% of the marks in the aggregate of all the years of the degree examinations.
MCA
Applicant should have passed Bachelor degree with not less than 50% of marks with Mathematics / Statistics / Computer Science / Computer Programming / Computer Applications / Business Mathematics / Business Statistics as one of the optional or electives at Degree Level.

Karnataka Post Graduate Common Entrance Test (PGCET) is conducted by VTU for Admission to M Tech Courses in Karnataka Universities. GATE candidates with valid GATE score are given preference for admission however they are exempted from appearing for the written test.
