Kasturba Medical College (KMC) Manipal, in Karnataka, offers several levels of programmes in medical sciences.

With an urge to serve, educate and innovate, Kasturba Medical College (KMC) was initiated in Manipal, Karnataka. Founded in the year 1953 by late T M A Pai, KMC gained the status of a full fledged independent college in 1969. Recognized by Medical Council of India in 1958, the institute has a unique recognition of being the first private medical college and ranked amongst top five medical colleges in India. The institute is recognized from General Medical Council of Great Britain and Malaysian Medical Council. Previously, the college was under the purview of Mangalore University.

Later in 1993, after the government of India granted Deemed University status to Manipal University, the college came under its wings. KMC Manipal offers several undergraduate, post graduate, and super specialty courses in medical science such as Bachelor of Medical and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS), DM (Doctor of Medicine), MS (Master of Surgery), PG Medical Diploma, M Sc in (Clinical Embryology / Medical / Yoga Therapy). Besides, the institute offers a PG certificate programme in Panchakarma.

Eligibility:

Undergraduate:
Candidates who have completed the 10+2, A Level, IB, American 12th grade or equivalent, with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English, with minimum 55% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology, taken together, are eligible to apply for the MBBS course.

Post Graduate Diploma:
Any candidate, who has completed his/her MBBS degree from an accredited University/Institution, recognized by Medical Council of India, and completed compulsory rotating internship before the commencement of the course, is eligible for the PG Medical Diploma programme.

Post Graduate:
MD/MS:
Any candidate who has completed his/her MBBS degree from a accredited University/Institution, recognized by Medical Council of India, and completed compulsory rotating internship before the commencement of the courses, is eligible for the MD/MS programmes.

M Sc:
Candidates who have completed the BSc with Reproduction, Zoology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Bioscience or Physiology as one of the subjects and with minimum 60% marks in aggregate are eligible for several M Sc in Medical Embryology. Similarly, candidates who have passed BSc with at least one subject of Biological Sciences or BAMS or MBBS or BHMS or BPT or BPharm or any other professional degrees from a recognized University and with minimum 50% marks in aggregate are eligible for M Sc in Medical programmes. Graduates in any discipline with 50% marks in aggregate can apply for the M Sc programme in Yoga Therapy.

DM/M Ch:
Candidates should possess qualification of MD in General Medicine or Paediatrics/MS in General Surgery from a institute recognized by the Medical Council of India and must have permanent registration from Medical Council of India, to be eligible for DM/M Ch programmes.

M Phil:
Candidates who have obtained MSW degree from a recognized University with minimum 55% marks in aggregate are eligible for M Phil in Psychiatric Social Work.
Admission Procedure:

Undergraduate:
Admission of the short listed candidates into MBBS programme is based on the score of All India Manipal University Online EntranceTest (MU-OET).

Entrance Test: MU OET

Post Graduate:
MD / MS / M Sc:
Admission of the short listed candidates into MD/MS/M Sc programmes is based on the score of All India Manipal University Online Entrance Test (MU-OET). However, admission into M Sc (Yoga Therapy) is done on the basis of the merit of the students in the qualifying examination.

DM / M Ch / M Phil:
Admission into DM/M Ch courses is made on the basis of past academic and professional record and a group of tests consisting of departmental written test, clinical examination, viva-voce and interview. Similarly, admissions into M Phil in Psychiatric Social Work is based on a departmental written test and personal interview, conducted by the institute itself.

Post Graduate Diploma:
Admission of the short listed candidates into PG Medical programme is based on the score of All India Manipal University Online Entrance Test (MU-OET).
