The candidate must have passed Higher Secondary or equivalent in science stream with minimum 50% marks in physics, chemistry and biology taken together from West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education or any other recognized board/university.
The candidates possessing Diploma in Engineering / Technology are eligible to seek admission under lateral entry scheme.

Admission is done on the basis of the candidate's performance in the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination (WB JEE) for 80% of the seats. 10% of the seats are filled through AIEEE. Remaining 10% of the seats fall under Management quota. For Management Quota seats, performance in the qualifying examination is also considered.
For lateral entry, admission depends on the scores of West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination for Lateral Entry (JELET).
