Birla Institute of Technology & Science Pilani or BITS Pilani as it is known, was established in 1929. At that time it was a small school and today it has blossomed into a set of colleges for higher education, ranging from the Humanities to Engineering. In 1964, all these colleges were amalgamated to culminate into a unique Indian University of International standing.
The Institute was christened as the Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani, i.e. BITS Pilani and was accorded the status of deemed university in 1964. The institute provides courses in engineering field at the Undergraduate and Postgraduate level. Besides that, the BITS has got accredited by the National Assessment & Accreditation Council (NAAC) with A grade. BITS Pilani also has campuses at Goa, Dubai, and Hyderabad.
